Garden Castle Nature Reserve
Garden Castle protects a spectacular section of the Southern Drakensberg containing Rhino Peak, the Giants Cup, sandstone caves, river valleys and routes towards the Lesotho border. The reserve offers accessible river walks as well as strenuous climbs. Popular destinations include Sleeping Beauty Cave, Pillar Cave, Hidden Valley, Engagement Cave and Rhino Peak. Garden Castle also forms an important section of the multi-day Giant’s Cup Trail.
Permits & Fees
Ezemvelo conservation fees apply. Overnight wilderness permits, camping and accommodation are charged separately. Summit hikers must register and carry appropriate navigation and emergency equipment.
